Introduction

The Allied Masonic Degrees is a body of detached or “side” degrees, which were conferred many years ago under Craft Warrants in many Craft Lodges.  When Freemasonry discontinued the working of outside degrees, many became dormant.  They were later organized together by a governing body. “The Allied Masonic Degrees,” for the benefit of Freemasonry.

Each A.M.D. Council is limited by Grand Council law to twenty-seven members and membership is by invitation only.  Councils are governed by a national Grand Council, with the aid of regional Grand Superintendents.  The Grand Council meets every February in Arlington, Virginia during “Masonic Week,” which is an Ingathering for many concordant bodies.
